Youth Education Opportunities"Invest 2 for Youth" SUNDAY MORNINGS Our nursery is staffed by early childhood professionals with whom you can entrust your precious infants and toddlers. Our volunteer Sunday School teachers are well-trained and will offer your children the Episcopal Children's Curriculum, the only Episcopal-based program for children.
Sunday School: Children from age three through 5th grade are introduced to their faith by a curriculum entitled Seasons of the Spirit. They are guided through the church’s year with all its symbolism and stories. The curriculum is “hands on” and offers children a variety of ways to grow deeper in their faith.
Three to seven-year-olds who attend a special Children's Chapel from 10:30 to 11 am are escorted back to the church at the time of the Offertory to receive Holy Communion with their families. First graders and up are invited to attend the Acolyte program and serve at the 10:30 Mass. Under the leadership of parishioner Jack Geist, our young acolytes are part of the Anglican Guild of Acolytes and attend our Diocesan Acolyte Festival in the spring. First graders and up are also invited to participate in the Children's Choir under the leadership of parishioner and music teacher Iris Guzman. The Children's Choir meets at noon on Sundays. An Intermediate Youth Group for children in third to fifth grades meets on the afternoon of the second Sunday of each month for recreational, service, and social events.
This youth ministry program guides young people through the often joyous and often challenging years of growing from childhood into adulthood. St. Stephen's offers “Rite 13” for young people in middle school, and “Young Adults in the Church” (or “YAC’s”) for young people in the later years of high school.
